About
Credit officer, bank analyst, and student of how banks earn the market's trust.
I'm Eric Henderson. For about twelve years I've worked at First Horizon Bank, where I'm a Senior Credit Officer in commercial real estate.
Credit work is the discipline of testing a story against the numbers. A sponsor tells you what a property will earn, what it's worth and how they'll get through a bad year. My job is to decide whether that story holds up, and to write down why.
Over time I've become just as interested in the other direction: how a bank tells its own story to the market, and how investors test it. That's what this site is for. I write about investor relations from a credit officer's chair, covering what analysts ask and why, what moves a bank's stock on earnings day, and what strong disclosure looks like.
I'm in the RISE program at the LSU Graduate School of Banking, class of 2027. My work there has included a study of asset/liability management: net interest margin, deposit costs and interest-rate sensitivity, the numbers investors ask banks about most. I earned my undergraduate degree at UNC Chapel Hill.
I care as much about developing people as about getting the numbers right, and I've built my career on both.
Outside work
I volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol and hold amateur radio and GMRS licenses. I paddle a solo canoe whenever I can, and every year I mark my birthday by hiking a mountain.
